Although French is not a mandatory class in Canada, but you will still need to pick a language to learn. The choices of those languages that are available in Palmer are French, Spanish and Japanese for modern languages.The reason why i think taking French is a better option is because there are jobs that require you to take French and it's also because taking French will help you a lot in Canada.

Bilingual customer service associate:
Their job is to work in retail, food services, and other types of companies like what I just said. They often succeed easily in this role by servicing the customers. And for the ‘’why’’ it require French is mainly because they can easily switch the language whenever they need to.
Translator:
As most people might know, a translator’s job is to help 2 people that are from different countries and speak different languages. And to help them, translators will have to know those languages well to communicate with both of them. So that is the reason why if you want to be a French translator, you must have a degree for French.
Travel Agent:
They are to help customers to plan their vacations, hotels, where to go, local restaurants, activities with customers' budget and reservations. If you want to be a travel agent that the countries speak French, then French is needed for this job.
French Teacher:
As everyone should know, French teachers are just like other teachers. They teach students' French class. They will be creating lessons and classwork for the students' learning.
Flight Attendant:
As you know, the work that flight attendants need to do is to keep the passengers safe and service them well. And so, passengers could be from different countries or places than themselves. To serve the passengers better, flight attendants can learn a different language to support the needs of the passengers.
Curator:
A curator’s job is to create exhibits and organize events in museums. To create some French arts or exhibits, curators will first need to know French well to do this job well. They can focus on art, history, or literature.
Political Analyst:
They usually study how political systems work. They help governments with trends. They will also research for specific countries that require French.
Immigration Officer:
The immigration office is a place for people who want to immigrate to a new country. In Canada, a lot of people from Quebec are speaking French, so you can be an immigration officer in Quebec.
Tour Coordinator:
The main work that tour coordinators do is to give recommendations for which place they should go, guidance, or even to lead the tourists for the resources that are available. They will have their way of making sure that the tourists are going to be safe the entire time of the trip. To get those resources and make sure everything will go smoothly, learning French before doing those jobs could help you a lot.
Technical Writer:
Technical writers usually create copies to help at least 2 people communicate with each other. They are to research their format of writing, topics, and information. So that’s why learning French can be quite helpful for communicating with others.

Historians research past events, places, and famous people that no one has ever discovered. They will specifically write about French articles if they know French well. They might also be visiting specific places for articles.
Diplomatic Agent:
Their job is to protects the ambassadors and U.S. missions. If you have a background in French, you can specifically help in French speaking countries. You may be attending to represent the countries.
Speech Language Pathologist
They resolve speeches and swallowing issues. They treat patients who are unable to read, write, make sounds, understand languages, and speak fluently. They will have to help both children and adults who were injured and unable to speak or eat after. And so, I think that a speech language pathologist is very important in our lives. If you have a background of French, then you can specialize for French patience.

Summary:
Although i know that you might not have the interest of these jobs, but if you learn French right now then you can choose from multiple paths in you future life when you are struggling to find a career.
