What is English Literature about?
For English Literature courses, the only grade that is available is grade 11 and 12.
For English Literature 11: students will dive into the core competencies. They learn about a lot of different themes, periods, and authors through literature. They are expected to have a high level of thinking and learning skills. They will have to receptive and expressive for English Language Arts.They will also need expand their development and the understand it as an educated global citizen themselves.
For English Literature 12: this course has 4 credits, and it will count for graduation so then that’s why this course is not mandatory. But they are encouraged to take it for college and university. Some universities and colleges may require students to take this course.In this course students will be focused on polishing their ability to explore and their critical thinking for English Language text from Medieval Ages through to the 20th century. They will also be reading some contemporary novel including Indigenous texts. They are also encouraged to the role texts play in culture and histories for modern approaches to literature.
Summary for this course 11-12:
- develop their critical thinking
- their communication skills
- their creative skills from diverse literary
- non-literary text from all over the world, not only Canada.
